Highlights from Transition to Work 2017

May 2nd | North Campus

About The Event

During the Spring 2017 semester, we launched the first ever Transition to Work event at Humber College. The event aimed to provide knowledge and skills focused on career preparation for people with disabilities including students, recent graduates and community members. It was a very successful day of interactive workshops, skill development, discovery and networking.

The four workshops focused on:

  • resume preparation
  • how and when to disclose your disability
  • arranging job accommodations
  • introducing yourself to employers (The 30-Second Sales Pitch)

The day concluded with a marketplace where participants interacted with a variety of local community partners who joined us to talk about their employment services. Some of the community partners included: Canadian Hearing Society, Career Edge, WESP (Workplace Essential Skills Partnership), CCRW (Canadian Council on Rehabilitation & Work), Job Start & Magnet.
