What resources are available?
Career services are located at the North campus (Academic & Career Success Centre in the Learning Resource Commons, First Floor), and at the Lakeshore campus (Welcome & Resource Centre, First Floor, WEL105) and by request at Orangeville. Services and resources include resume critiques, job postings, interview preparation assistance, job search books and handouts. Other services include free access to computers, fax machine and photocopier for job search purposes. In addition, our Career & Student Success Advisors can help students develop a job search strategy, set up practice interview sessions, and much more.Back to top
How do I promote Career Services resources to students?
You can book a class visit so your students can learn more about the expertise, resources and services available through Career Services. A class visit is a brief 10-15 minute presentation to let them know what we have to offer, a sample of our handouts, resources and services. Please actively encourage your students to visit Career Services and use the resources to prepare and work on career and job search assignments that you may have prepared. Back to top
What types of classroom visits are available?
Grad class visits are targeted to students in their graduating semester and consist of an overview of our services, as well as specific services for graduates including Humber's exclusive job posting service. A must for all graduates! Career & Student Success Advisors also deliver class presentations on a variety of job search related topics including general job search strategies, resume and cover letter tips, interview techniques, how to market yourself as well customized workshops depending on your class requirements. What events does the Career Services offer?
Program-specific student/employer networking events can be coordinated in partnership with individual schools or particular programs. Career Services staff can bring together relevant employers to discuss opportunities with students and to practice networking skills. What type of assessment resources can students access online?
Students can access careercruising.com, a website that contains an interest inventory, occupational and educational databases and an electronic portfolio package. For additional online assessment tools, please go to "Services for Students" page and login using your HCNet account. Also, be sure to visit libguide.humber.ca for more resources. Back to top
How do I access job postings online?
To view on-campus, part-time, summer, and full-time job postings, go to the CareerConnect job search system and login using your HCNet account. Back to top
What services are available to students in Continuing Education programs?
Career Advancement Service provides free career coaching and educational planning to individuals enrolled in Continuing Education programs. Coaches are available at both the North and Lakeshore campus and can be booked by calling 416.675.6622 x 5030, OR you can register for an Appointment online.
