Jobs of the Future Youth Summit

The Government of Ontario in partnership with the Jr. Economic Club of Canada are delivering a “Jobs of the Future Youth Summit” that will provide youth with opportunities to learn about, and engage with, key growing sectors of the economy.

Canada’s First Trans Job Fair

November 20
TIME: 11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: TIFF Bell Lightbox, 350 King St W, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5

Trans Workforce will hold the Worlds First Job Fair specifically geared towards people who identify as trans and gender nonconforming at the TIFF Bell Lightbox building.
A space will be created, where trans identifying job seekers can interact without fear of discrimination, with employers who are seeking to give equal opportunity to qualified talent.

We are also looking for volunteers who would want to lend their time and be part of this historic initiative.

Better Business Bureau Warns Students About Back-to-School Scams

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is urging postsecondary students to keep an eye out for scams as the fall semester approaches. Several of the common scams highlighted include housing rentals, employment opportunities, and online shopping schemes that involve money transfers or forms of up-front payment.

Evan Kelly of the BBB says [Postsecondary] students are highly susceptible to scams, particularly at this time of year. “They are affected with what is called an optimism bias, which makes them feel very vulnerable and basically [makes them] ignore any safety precautions,” says Kelly.
